Trip is cancelled for some reason? Apply for cancellation travel insurance

I booked my flight last holiday season since I planned to have a vacation abroad. I’m excited about it since it would be my first time to go to Hong Kong. I already prepared everything – my travel money, tickets, clothes, camera, and passport.
Unfortunately, my boss suddenly gave me last minute assignments in my work. It was frustrating because I couldn’t avoid it. My vacation plans suddenly went down the drain. To add fuel to the fire, I was thinking about all the money I’ve spent preparing for the trip.

How can I refund the money that I spent for my plane tickets? It was a good thing that my mom, who took care in buying me my plane tickets since I was busy, already made transactions with a travel agency. She told me that she applied for a travel insurance that has good policies regarding cancellations. The travel insurance that she got has a “cancel for any reason” program, and she only paid for the cover that I need. After I filed the cancellation with my valid reason, they paid me back the amount I spent in my holiday vacation trip.

It’s a good thing that travel insurance agencies have cancellation travel insurance policies. Sometimes, unexpected things happens such as bad weather conditions leading to cessation of trips, tour operator’s fault or your trip companion’s fault. We can cancel it and the agencies provide reimbursement for the money we spent.

I was lucky that my mother was such a forward thinker. Next time, I will carefully plan may vacation to avoid such hassle and just have a happy, worriless trip.
