My Dad is turning 60 this year. Though he tells us that he doesn’t want a party, I can see it in his eyes that he does.
Dad is quite a funny man. He loves making jokes and totally enjoys seeing people laugh. Dad often reads joke books and then relays them to us in full animation. Since it will be Dad’s birthday and we feel like he already has everything he needs, we asked him to write a wish list for our reference. As soon as we read it, we were realized how thoughtful and generous our Dad was. There was nothing on the list for himself. It was for all of us and some of his friends.
Here are some of Dad’s wish list items:
• Cheap portable generators – He told us how his old friend, Mr. Niles can’t sometimes pay his electricity bills due to late pension payments. Dad would want to give him a portable generator so he won’t eat his dinner in the dark.
• Airline ticket to Canada – My sister’s husband was based in Canada and they haven’t seen each other in months. The airline ticket would be for her so that she and her husband would be together even in just a short while.
As soon as I wake up in the morning, I immediately head to the bathroom to relieve myself and brush my teeth. After taking a quick shower, I towel dry my hair and blow dry it in low setting. I can’t stand too much heat in my face. When my hair is dry, I style it straight with a ceramic hair iron.
Choosing my outfit for the day can sometimes take me minutes. I constantly change my mind about certain outfits and I almost always need to wear at least 3 kinds of outfits before I can decide. Just last week, I donned an olive green cashmere turtle neck sweater but thought against it. I changed to a simple sheer floral blouse but decided against that too. It was a bit racy for the office. The winner outfit have been a simple white suit. It looked perfect with my tan stiletto shoes.
Making breakfast is next on the agenda after dressing. Since I only got a bit of time for breakfast, I just whipped myself an omelette and orange juice or a buttered toast with milk. When breakfast is done, it is time to head to the office. My drive to work takes at least 15 minutes and I rather enjoy it.
Will just arrived in Amy’s house. He knocked on the door and waited for her to answer. He rang the doorbell and waited again. It seems that no one was in the house. That was kind of weird since Amy called him up to drop by.
Will went out back and peeked into one of the kitchen windows. It seems that Amy was making homemade ice cream and was dancing to the beat of whatever she was listening on her IPod. Will tapped the window and waved to Amy as she turned towards him. Immediately, she beamed and ran towards the door to let him in.
Amy hugged Will and asked him to sit down. She was just making dessert for both of them to enjoy. It would just take an hour before they can enjoy the ice cream since they both like it soft serve. Amy then bought will into the living room to watch some movies while waiting for their dessert to be done. They were in the mood to watch animated movies so they picked “Finding Nemo.” Will and Amy had seen this movie hundreds of times together but it still cracks them up. A few minutes later, Will and Amy were enjoying chocolate ice cream.
Erwin and Claire have been living together for 18 months. They are really happy and content with their relationship. Though Erwin and Claire both have their hang-ups, they are pretty compatible and get on really well.
Claire is out of town for a couple of days to visit a sick sister. Erwin couldn’t come because of work but he plans to make it up to Claire by giving her as surprise when she gets back, which in just in time for their monthly anniversary.
Erwin plans to put an additional shoe storage solution for Claire. She seems to own a few more pairs now that she sometimes just leaves them on the floor. Also, Erwin bought new red silk sheets with matching bed covers, pillow cases and bed skirts. He is sure that Claire will love it.
Since blueberry pancakes and hash browns are Claire’s favourite breakfast food, Erwin already bought ingredients so that he can make it for her when she arrives early in the morning two days from now. Erwin will also buy a box of glazed donuts for them to share over a cup of black brewed coffee. Erwin can’t wait for Claire to come back from her trip.
When I was 12 years old, I never wanted to grow older. Getting older means getting your heart broken, having wrinkles and crow’s feet under the eyes and saggy skin. Growing old also would also mean bigger, grown up problems like debt, unfaithfulness, employment and so much more. No wonder grown up people have lots of gray hair and wrinkles from depression and other emotional problems.
Growing up would mean deciding about kitchen lighting designs, what wine goes well with fish or what wedding dress to wear. Growing up would mean lots of temptations from alcohol, drugs, sex and a whole lot more.
Though, growing up does have its perks. A grown up can travel anywhere at any time. Grownups can drive cars, motorcycles and other great vehicles. It would be quite lovely to be able to eat exotic food and good wine too.
Partying seems to be a great way to have fun when you’re a grownup. Hanging out with friends and just chilling out or dancing sounds really great. It would also be fun to watch movies that kids aren’t allowed to view. Living alone is also an advantage as a grownup. No more waiting for turns in the bathroom and no more snoring noises from your brother’s room.
When Carl was nine, he received an invitation to a pool party. At first, he thought it was a prank because the party that he was invited to was Zack Mahoney’s. Zack Mahoney was a really popular kid in school. He is British, rich and he lives on a big house in a few blocks away from Carl’s house.
Carl has never spoken to Zack ever since though they were classmates. Zack always seats in front while he sits down the last row. His only encounter with Zack was that time Carl saw him slip on the stairs and he tried to help him. They never said a word to each other as Carl helped him towards the school clinic.
Since then, Zack became more and more elusive for Carl to talk to. Zack was busy with soccer as Carl was preoccupied with the chess and drama club. Carl thought long and hard about attending Zack’s pool party. He might be left out and probably won’t have a good time. But Carl went, nevertheless.
Zack’s home was beautiful. They have a huge pool with two out door fireplaces on the ends of the patio. Zack welcomed Carl into their home and they have been friends since.
My wife and I have been married for over 5 years. To celebrate our wedding anniversary next month, I have planned a series of activities for me and my wife. We are both outdoorsy and athletic so definitely we will be doing adventures of both types.
I’ve always wanted to go whitewater river rafting and so does my wife. I’ve already booked a trip for us and I am just so excited. The trip also includes hiking and camping which is very appropriate for us to be able to enjoy the scenery and the beauty of nature at its finest.
After the rafting, I would want to take my wife to a beautiful beach resort. It doesn’t have to be abroad but it has to be perfect. I want us to be comfortable and pampered. We could just relax and sunbathe, get massaging and drinking pina colada or just swimming our troubles away.
A wedding anniversary isn’t an anniversary without a present. In my excitement, I already bought my wife a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. She has always wanted one and since I can finally afford them, I bought her a large pair that she’ll love. I can’t wait for out 6th year anniversary next month.
I am Sam and I am in love. I have this very beautiful neighbour named Rachel. She lives four doors away from my apartment, a year younger than me and is 5’6”.
Rachel and I have been neighbours for 3 years and we have been friends since then. She is so much fun to be with. She laughs this really contagious laugh of hers and I just love hearing it every time. Rachel works as a nursery school teacher. It suits her really well because she just loves kids. She is very patient and kind to them. It just makes my heart melt when they give her a hug for making their day in school fun.
Rachel doesn’t know I am in love with her. But I will tell her tonight. I have finally had the guts to ask her out on a date and I can’t wait to pick her up later. In fact, I spent the whole day decorating cakes to give to her. I am a baker by profession and Rachel loves my cakes, so I am bringing her some really great tasting ones.
Dressed in jeans and a tan pullover sweater, I knocked Rachel’s door with a bag of cakes in my hand. Wish me good luck, please.
There are a lot things I would want to be able to do in the coming months. Here are some of the things I want to learn in my spare time:
1. Play the guitar – Wouldn’t it be cool if I could just play the guitar? Strumming on the strings seems easy to look at but hard to do. It would be a dream come true for me to play an acoustic song in front of my friends and family.
2. Cook fresh lobster – I am so scared of live lobster with its huge claws snapping at me. I never tried cooking lobster because of the fact that I have to touch it while it’s still alive. This is so sad because I love eating lobsters and I would sure like to try preparing any lobster dish.
3. Beautify – I am a lipstick and mascara only gal but I would love to learn to apply makeup like a pro. I want to learn how to blend my eyeshadows and concealers without making them look fake.
I want to do them all but I have be realistic. Learning new things take time, patience and effort. After some time, I may be able to do all of them.
